ABOUT  ELENA

Described as “stunning” for her portrayal of Ulrica in “Un Ballo in Maschera” (Vancouver Entertainment), Elena brings passion and expressiveness to repertoire in both, opera and concert settings. Ms. Razlog is an engaged mezzo-soprano at Vancouver Opera.  Elena is a co-creator and a performer in the “Opera, Fairy Tales and Magic!” operatic show that was featured in the 2019 Vancouver Opera Festival.  This show was also part of the Vancouver Opera 2020-2021 Digital Season.
 

Highlights of Elena’s performances as a guest soloist include concerts in collaboration with Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, UBC Symphony Orchestra, Plzen Opera Orchestra, Karlovy Vary Opera Orchestra and other.  Elena is a re-invited soloist with the State Rostropovich Philharmonic Orchestra of Nizhny Novgorod under the baton of Maestro Alexander Skulsky.

Elena performed a solo program as part of the New York Lyric Opera Gala that takes place each year in the acclaimed Carnegie Hall featuring young professionals from around the world.  Other highlights of her solo performances include the “Gypsy Dances” Concert with the UBC Symphony Orchestra dedicated to works of E. Kalman, recorded and broadcasted by CBC. Elena appeared as a guest soloist in the popular “Tea & Trumpet Concert” with Vancouver Symphony Orchestra traditionally done each year at the Orpheum, a heritage theatre in the heart of Vancouver.  She was one of the soloists in the musical “The Roads”, a production by the Broadway Theatre, NY, that toured throughout the United Stated, Europe and Japan. 

 

Elena holds Master’s Degree from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada (M.MUS’17 in Opera), and Diploma in Voice Performance (DIPL’16) from the same university.  In addition, she holds B.A. in Education (major in Linguistics); International Relations and Cross-Cultural Communications, as well as Diploma in Music Teaching (major in Choir Conducting).  

 

Elena is a sought-after vocal coach with over 10 years of teaching experience including work at Selina Music Academy (Vancouver), Wonderland Arts School (Vancouver), as well as private tutoring. Elena is also a language coach, providing training to artists on such repertoire as “Eugene Onegin” by Tchaikovsky (Vancouver Opera, UBC Opera), "The Passenger" by MieczysÅ‚aw Weinberg (UBC Opera), Prokofiev's cantata “Alexander Nevsky” and Rachmaninov’s “All Night Vigil Vespers” performed by Vancouver Bach Choir and Elektra Women’s Choir.

​In addition to her career as a classical singer, Elena enjoys designing and creating costumes for opera and theatre productions. She is a graduate from the CUT Vancouver Fashion Academy and has additional training in History of Costume. Elena was engaged and is re-invited to assist with costume creation for various productions, with primary experience in Costume Depts of Vancouver Opera and UBC Opera.
